Guardian Angels - Making a Difference
When Kimberley Donaldson delivered her first child at Moore Medical Center, she felt her delivery nurse was like an angel at her side.
“She was working her hardest to do what was best for me,” Donaldson said. “She kept me calm and did a great job.”
Donaldson chose to honor her nurse, Kim Anable, RN, through Norman Regional’s Guardian Angel program. The program gives patients and their families an opportunity to make a meaningful gift to Norman Regional Health Foundation to recognize healthcare providers who deliver extraordinary care at the Health System.
Each Guardian Angel is honored among their peers and receives a specially designed lapel-pin to signify their “angel wings.”

American Diabetes Association Honors Norman Diabetes Center
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has recognized Norman Regional Health System’s Diabetes Center for its commitment to excellence in providing quality diabetes education to the public.
The association’s Education Recognition Certificate assures the Diabetes Center’s educational programs meet national standards and staff is properly credentialed, said Pam Boeck, RN, CDE, program coordinator for the Diabetes Center.
Dr. Tan Pham is a board-certified endocrinologist who often refers patients to the center.
“The ADA recognition of the Norman Regional Diabetes Center is a merit to the center’s excellence and experience in management of diabetes care. I’ve had much success in utilizing their services with my patients,” Pham said.
The Diabetes Centers’ patients have shown remarkable improvement and in 2008 data showed 80 percent of individuals completing comprehensive education had a reduction in A1C value. An A1C is a test that gives a picture of a patient’s average blood glucose control for the past two to three months.

Music to His Ears – A Tribute to Dr. Hal Belknap
His hands healed thousands, his love reached many more and now, even after death, Dr. Hal Belknap’s legacy is growing.
Norman residents are working with Ugandan health officials to open the Doctor B Health Clinic in Africa. At 7 p. m. on April 18 a benefit concert to raise money for the clinic will be held at the First Baptist Church, located at 211 West Comanche in Norman. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
Dr. Brian Yeaman is a partner at Belknap’s Norman Clinic and also heads the Medical Explorer Post Belknap developed at Norman Regional Hospital. He says having a clinic in Uganda that will save the lives of underprivileged children would have made Belknap more than proud.
“Dr. Belknap would have been humbly honored. The clinic will improve health services for an impoverished area of tremendous need, some who otherwise would not have access to a physician,” Yeaman said.
