Education, Knowledge Key to Controlling Diabetes
Bob Thomas has been battling diabetes for almost 20 years, but thanks to one powerful weapon, is medication-free. His key to success is utilizing education offered at Norman Regional Health System. At age 75, Thomas is managing his diabetes and adding years to his life.
Norman Regional’s Diabetes Center offers diabetics an array of services including nutrition classes, menu management, support groups and monthly educational programs.
“People become very discouraged when they are diagnosed with a chronic illness. Our goal at the Diabetes Center is to make our patients the leaders of their own health,” said Pam Boeck, RN, CDE, program coordinator for the Diabetes Center.
